Jaap is the Lead for the BA Specialization in Film in the Department of Media and Culture Studies. Together with Philipp Dominik Keidl and Ari Purnama, he is the organizer of the UU Screen Studies Seminar at Utrecht University. Together with Ruby Cheung, Jaap is the Co-Chair of the Screen Industries Work Group of the European Network for Cinema and Media Studies (NECS). He serves on the Nominating Committee of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies (SCMS).
