Dax Vendrig, EBVS European Specialist in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, is working as an assistant professor at the subdivision of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology. He is involved in the educational programme of this subdivision within both the Bachelor programme and the different Master programmes of Veterinary Medicine. Next to this, he is active as a certified equine practitioner at the Equine Ambulatory Clinic of the Department of Equine Sciences.  With regard to research, his main interests are the functioning of the immune system- particularly related to gut health and the occurence of infectious diseases- and possibilities to modulate immune responses. The use of antibiotics and the occurence and development of bacterial resistance are of great interest to him as well, resulting in his participation in the development of national guidelines for practitioners concerning the use of antimicrobials.

Dax feels that this combination of teaching, research and veterinary practice is of great value to all aspects of his work.
