Johan Kolk studied Mathematics with Physics at the University of Amsterdam and received his PhD cum laude from Utrecht University in 1977. He has published in the areas of harmonic analysis on semisimple Lie groups, the theory of distributions in the sense of L. Schwartz, and classical analysis. Jointly with the late professor J.J. (Hans) Duistermaat, he has written four books: one on Lie groups, one on distributions and two volumes on multidimensional real analysis. He took early retirement in 2009. For more information see
