Dr. Ina Vollmer is an associate professor, leading the Mechano-Catalysis Group within the Institute for Sustainable Chemistry at Utrecht University (UU). She is looking for pathways to recycle plastics to chemicals, particularly using catalysis. She researchers mechano-catalytic pathways to facilitate low temperature conversion of polymers with a higher selectivity. Dr. Vollmer studied chemical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (graduation 2015). In her doctorate, she researched activity descriptors for the aromatization reaction of methane over metal supported on zeolite catalysts with Prof. Freek Kapteijn and Prof. Jorge Gascon (graduated 2019). After two years of postdoc at UU, Dr. Vollmer was appointed as a tenure track assistant professor in 2021 and associate professor in 2026.
