Prof. Junginger is member of the scientific committee of the European Biomass Conference & exhibition since 2015. Tasks consists amongst other of reviewing abstracts, curating oral sessions, and chairing oral and poster sessions.

He is also a member of the independent sustainability board of GoodFuels. In this role, he advises on the sustainability of various feedstocks for use in the production of marine fuels. This position is not remunerated.

In addition, he has been one of the board members of the bio-energy section of the journal Energies since 2019.
