I am a public health scientist experienced in artificial intelligence, causal inference and complex systems methods. My research focuses on the prevention of chronic diseases through urban environments.
I have a background in Medicine and a PhD in Public Health, both from Istanbul University - Cerrahpasa. I led health promotion projects in Istanbul Health Directorate. I taught public health and epidemiology at Istanbul Medipol University. I did postdoctoral research at Queen's University Belfast exploring the causal effects of the urban environment and place-based interventions on health behaviours and chronic disease risk (incl. cancer, cardiovascular diseases, dementia, and depression).
Currently, I am working at Utrecht University, Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences, contributing to the International Human Exposome Network.
