Femke van Noorloos is associate professor of International Development Studies and Human Geography & Planning (Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University). Her research focuses on urban development in Africa and Latin America; particularly on land and housing issues in (sub)urban settings, new cities and private sector investment in urban development, citizen initiatives and urban governance. She is affiliated with the LANDac network and programme. Femke did her PhD on the topic of residential tourism and transnational property investment in Costa Rica (graduated December 2012). She is Master Coordinator of the International Development Studies Master's programme and teaches in the Human Geography and Planning Bachelor's programme and in the International Development Studies and Sustainable Development Master's programmes.
