Dr. Helen Vossen is a Youth and Media researcher. Her research focuses on how the media use of children and adolescents affects their psychosocial development both positively and negatively. Together with Dr. Ina Koning and Dr. Regina van den Eijnden, she set up the Digital Family project. This project uses innovative methods to examine the influence of digital media on family functioning and how parents influence the (excessive) digital media use of their children. Furthermore, Helen is involved in the Youth and Digitization (JEDi) study. JEDi is a large-scale multidisciplinary study on what factors influence the relationship between digital media use and youth development and opportunities. The goal is to develop skills and tools that support positive impact of digital media use, development and opportunity equity.
