PhD Candidate
Religious Studies

I am Harriet Boateng Aduako, a PhD candidate in the Religious Matters Project. I research traditional African shrines among the Kwahu in Ghana. As a PhD candidate at Utrecht University, my role is to study and research traditional shrines especially those situated among the Akan of Ghana. My interest is to know how traditional shrines have evolved and transformed over the years. By this, I look at the progress and development of these shrines in the light of colonialization and Christian influence in Ghana's religious landscape. I seek to understand religious trends and diverse behavior patterns in Ghana's multiple religious scenes.
