Biography
Gabriël van Beusekom (he/him) is Assistant Professor at Utrecht University. His research focuses on the health and social relationships of sexual and gender diverse youth, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT), and gender-nonconforming adolescents. He obtained his PhD in Child Development and Educational Sciences from the University of Amsterdam in 2018, where he studied risk and protective factors for the mental health of LGBT youth. Previously, he worked at the Netherlands Institute for Social Research, examining the well-being of LGBT individuals in the Netherlands. At Utrecht University, he conducts research on LGBT health and teaches courses on youth, identity, and inclusion. Gabriël is active in academic networks including APA Division 44 (Society for the Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity) and the Dutch Association of Sexologists (NVVS).
