Georg Lorenz is assistant professor at the Department of Sociology. His research focuses on inequality, social cohesion, and the dynamics of social networks. He applies these themes to data on adolescents and their networks, interaction on social media and digital networks, teacher discrimination in school, and friendship networks in schools. In 2022 he received a grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG) to investigate how peer network dynamics shape educational inequality. He obtained his PhD in social sciences (summa cum laude) in 2017 from the University of Bamberg, Germany.
