Grace Leksana is an Assistant Professor in Indonesian history in the Cultural History section of Utrecht University. Trained as an Indonesian social historian with interdisciplinary background, her works involved memory studies, (epistemic) violence & genocide, histories of the Left, decolonization, and specific approach of micro history.
Grace holds a PhD (2020) from Leiden Institute of Area Studies, Leiden University. She was part of the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Carribean Studies (KITLV) researcher during her PhD. From this dissertation, she published her monograph Memory culture of the anti Leftist violence in Indonesia: Embedded Remembering (Amsterdam University Press, 2023). Prior to joining Utrecht University, she is an assistant professor at Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia. She is also currently a member of the advisory board in War, Conflict, and Genocide Studies series of Amsterdam University Press.
