Gabriël is a PhD student in the field of Competition Law and Political Philosophy at the Universiteit Utrecht. He dives into the question of what legislative and regulatory measures are needed to improve the position of platform workers. This research aims to contribute to ensure better working conditions for those experiencing the downside of the ever-growing gig economy: a lack of social security.

His position is funded by the NWO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek) and is part of the bigger consortium PlatWork-R, including academic partners such as the universities of Amsterdam and Maastricht and social partners like FNV Labour Union, SER Social and Economic Council and Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.
