Francesca Pilo` is an Assistant Professor in Planning in the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning at Utrecht University. Prior to joining Utrecht University, she held positions at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), the Université Paris Diderot (France) and the University of Amsterdam (the Netherlands). She has a PhD in Urban Planning from the join supervision between Université Paris Est (laboratoire LATTS), in France, and the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), in Brazil. Her research interests primarily lie in the political role of infrastructures in the production of cities and in mediating the relationship between the citizens and institutional actors. In particular, her research focus concerns the governance of urban infrastructure, the interaction between urban services, the right to the city and citizenship, informal urbanization and urban energy transition. She conducted extensive research in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and more recently in Kingston (Jamaica).
