Passionate poultry veterinarian and epidemiologist, specialized in both field and experimental research involving poultry. My research primarily focuses on poultry gut health—including the microbiome, antimicrobial resistance, and biosecurity—as well as the introduction and transmission of infectious diseases within and between poultry farms, with a particular emphasis on avian influenza. I also teach epidemiology and poultry health to veterinary master’s students and develop and deliver various postgraduate courses. I especially like doing multidisciplinary projects, where I collaborate with PhD students and partner institutes both within the Netherlands and internationally.
