Eric Jas is assistant professor in musicology. His teaching focuses mainly on music theory. His research concentrates on music of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries and in particular on source studies, authorship issues and the production of scholarly editions of polyphonic music. He edited volumes of the New Obrecht Edition, the New Josquin Edition and the works of Ghiselin Danckerts, Jheronimus Vinders and Benedictus Appenzeller (in progress). His monograph on the sixteenth-century choirbooks of the St Peter's church at Leiden was published by The Boydell Press in 2018. Eric Jas was editor-in-chief of the Tijdschrift van de Koninklijke Vereniging voor Nederlandse Muziekgeschiedenis from 1999 to 2023, a member of the editorial board of the New Josquin Edition from 2004 to 2017, and as of 2024 a member of the editorial board of the Journal of the Alamire Foundation.
