Elske Salemink is Associate Professor (with ius promovendi) in Clinical Psychology, at Utrecht University since 2018.

She studied Health Sciences (Mental Health Science) at Maastricht University and graduated cum laude in 2002. Then she started as a Ph.D student at Utrecht University focusing on the causal role of interpretive bias in anxiety and graduated in 2008. During her PhD project she also worked in Macleod’s Cognition and Emotion lab, Perth Australia. From 2009 to 2018, she worked as an Assistant Professor in Developmental Psychology, University of Amsterdam. Her research consists of an experimental approach to understand the development and treatment of anxiety, depression, and alcohol use disorder. Dr. Salemink received several grants for her research including a VENI and VIDI grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO), and a grant from the Netherlands Organization for Health Research and Development (ZONMW).  Dr. Salemink is also a registered cognitive behavior therapist (member of the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy (VGCt).
