Erik J. Molenaar has been with the Netherlands Institute for the Law of the Sea (NILOS) at Utrecht University since 1994 and currently holds the position of Deputy Director. During 2006-2020 he was also employed by UiT The Arctic University of Norway. After having completed his PhD on ‘Coastal State Jurisdiction over Vessel-Source Pollution’ (1998), he broadened his research field with international fisheries law and the international law relating to the Arctic and the Antarctic. He has a large number of publications (> 100) - as author or editor - ; has participated in various diplomatic conferences and other intergovernmental meetings - including the annual meetings of several regional fisheries management organizations - on various delegations; and has been involved in international litigation as well as a large number of consultancies
