I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Public Prevention Policies from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and a Master’s degree in Global Criminology from Utrecht University (cum laude). Alongside my academic training, I also studied film direction and screenwriting, and spent several years working in the film industry. During such time, I produced several award-winning short films.
In 2024, I obtained my PhD from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (cum laude). My doctoral research explored the cinematic representation of the prison system and its associated actors, focusing on how such visual narratives shape public perceptions and impact the lived experiences of those portrayed.
My research lies at the intersection of criminology and visual culture. I examine the complex interplay between images, crime, and control, particularly how film and other media depict harm, punishment, and marginality, and how these portrayals influence broader cultural understandings and societal responses.
