Dr. David Terburg

I am researcher and teacher in social neurosciences and psychoneuroendocrinology.

My main interest lies in how automatic social and emotional processes affect our behavior. I study this by:

1. Manipulating the hormonal and opioid systems of the human brain (by administering testosterone, cortisol, mu-opioid (ant)agonists, etc.).

2. Measuring the behavioral and fysiological effects of naturally-occuring lesions to the human amygdala (a main hub of our motivational, emotional and social brain).

3. Direct cross-species translation of 1 and 2 by using parallel experiments in humans and rodents.
