My research focuses on understandig large-scale and current-day deformation of the Earth's surface. For this I combine geodetic observations (GNSS, satellite gravity, InSAR), geophysical models and experimental results from laboratory experiments of the strength of upper mantle rocks. I am particularly interested in the deformation around subduction zones and how time-dependent deformation of the upper mantle influences our estimates of the accumulation of slip deficit between subducting plate and overriding plate. Similarly, I am interested in how the short-term strength of the upper mantle affects the rate of surface deformation around deglaciating areas.
