Chu is a PhD candidate in Human Geography and Spatial Planning. Before commencing my doctoral studies, I completed my undergraduate degree in the Tourism Department at Sichuan University and my master's degree in the Geography Department at Hong Kong University. My research interests are centred around urban culture, public space, social equality, and qualitative research.

My current research project examines the notion of an inclusive city and cultural diversity, empirically based in Chengdu, China. Theories mainly involve feminism, emotion-affective theories, assemblage, and digital humanity. This project entails four case studies focused on heritage, green, civic, and community spaces, with a specific emphasis on examining public spaces through the lenses of performance, mobility, social norms, and intimacy.
