Dr. Charlotte Mol is Assistant Professor at the Utrecht Centre for European Research into Family Law (UCERF) and the Molengraaff Institute for Private Law.
Currently, Charlotte forms part of a interdisciplinary research team with colleagues from pedagogy working on a new project focused on child participation following parental separation: 'Hear Hear! Nurturing Children’s Self-Determination Through Participation in the Context of Parental Divorce'.
Charlotte defended her PhD thesis 'The Child's Right to Participate in Family Law Proceedings according to International and European Human Rights Law: Represented, Heard or Silenced?' on 28 January 2022 and received her doctorate degree 'cum laude'. Her research focused on child participation in family law disputes. The child's right to participation is examined in international and European human rights sources, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights. The research was supervised by Prof. Wendy Schrama and dr. Merel Jonker and funded by a Research Talent grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). Her research is published as a monograph with Intersentia in the European Family Law series.
