QIAO (Cong-rui) is a PhD candidate at Utrecht University and has been investigating the topic on “Institutional and Conceptual Shift in Public Dispute Settlements in China” since 2013. Bridging Chinese perspectives to non-Chinese audience lies at the core of Qiao Cong-rui’s research passion. Trained as an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural researcher, Qiao Cong-rui is able to take Chinese contexts into account when examining present institutional rules and structures, and employ big-data-based discourse analysis to understand  popular conceptions during China’s transformational era.

Qiao Cong-rui’s most recent journal publications include “Jurisprudent Shift in China: A Functional Interpretation” (the Asian Journal of Economics and Law, Vol. 8. Issue 1, April 2017), and “On Discrepancy and Synergy between China and the International Criminal Court” (the Cambridge Journal of China Studies, Vol. 11, Issue 4, 2016).

Qiao Cong-rui has been actively communicating and building relationships with various actors in Asia in general and in China in particular, and regularly presenting her research findings at the series of ‘Cross Cultural Human Rights Seminar’ in China, the 2016 conference of the Asian Association of Law and Economics in South Korea, and the 2017 conference of the Asian Law Institute in the Philippines.
