Research focus: cystic fibrosis and other obstructive lung diseases in young children

Kors van der Ent is paediatrician, Professor in Paediatric Pulmonology and chair of the Child Health program. His researches focus on Cystic Fibrosis and other obstructive lung diseseases in young children. In recent years, the prognosis of these disorders has greatly improved, making him especially focused on the long-term outcomes of his patients by improving treatment in childhood. Kors was the first to apply intestinal organoid technology in personalised medicine in patients with CF, which was adopted worldwide afterwards.

Kors works on an (inter)national level with research partners and other CF- centres in clinical studies to study and treat the development of respiratory diseases in children. In addition, he has published more than 250 (inter)national peer-reviewed scientific articles and supervised more than 40 PhD candidates. He in the board of many (inter)national committees regarding respiratory diseases.
