Karin Geuijen's main research interests focus on transformations which aim to create public value in the domain of forced migration. She is especially interested in hybrid collaborations of public, private and civic partners, including commons initiatives.

She co-leads an international consortium which researches the ways in which non-EU migrants participate in revitalising depopulating and (economically) declining areas in Europe. Welcoming Spaces is a project funded by the Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, call H2020-SC6-Migration-2019, under grant agreement 870952

She also co-leads a collaborative research project on how facilitative ecosystems  boosts social and community-driven entrepreneurship for the transition to an inclusive and sustainable society. The SCENTISS project is funded bij the Dutch Research Council's research programme Mission-driven innovation in a regional context, under grant agreement KICH1.MV01.20.018   https://www.nwo.nl/en/projects/kich1mv0120018

She participated in an international and interdisciplinary research team which monitored and evaluated innovations in refugee reception and integration (U-RLP https://www.compas.ox.ac.uk/project/utrecht-refugee-launchpad/).
