I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Ethics Institute in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Utrecht University. I do research in political philosophy and applied ethics, specializing in questions about justice and equality, especially in relation to work and the economy.

At Utrecht University I am part of the project Visions for the Future which is conducting an ethical analysis of socio-economic systems that have been proposed as alternatives to contemporary capitalism. The project does this by comparing how and whether these alternative systems can provide solutions to pressing social problems and realize a range of normative values. My research is currently focused on systems of Economic Democracy and Democratic Socialism.

Before coming to Utrecht University I was a Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin. This position was funded by an external grant from Research Ireland (GOIPD/2023/1395). Before that I completed a PhD in Political Science (Political Theory) at Western University in Canada, where I wrote a thesis on meaningful work.

My research interests include:

  • Economic justice
  • Relational equality
  • Meaningful work
  • Ethics of markets
  • Political liberalism
  • Socialism
