Christopher F. Julien (he/they) is a philosopher and activist based in Zaandam, NL.
His PhD research at Utrecht University, supervised by Iris van der Tuin, focuses on new materialisms and decolonial ecology. His dissertation moves between philosophy of science and political ecology to develop techniques for ecological governance in times of collapse. Julien is spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion NL, sits on the boards of various cultural organisations and holds cum laude masters degrees in Cultural Analysis and in Conflict Studies & Human Rights.
His work has been published in MATTER: Journal for New Materialist Research, Krisis | Journal for Contemporary Philosophy, The More Posthuman Glossary and Valiz, next to the popular non-fiction book ‘Alledaags activisme’ (Everyday activism) with Uitgeverij Podium. In the spring of 2026 his second book on ecopopulism will appear with Uitgeverij De Geus.
