Carien Duisterwinkel currently works as Coordinator AI Labs at Utrecht University. With a background in international relations, Carien has 15 years experience in stakeholder relations and project management at the interface between business, government and non-profits, in Europe and abroad. Carien joined the university in 2015. In addition to her role as Coordinator AI Labs, she is involved in the Public Engagement pillar of the UU Open Science Programme.

The AI Labs are the place for knowledge institutions, companies, public sector organisations, students, lecturers and researchers to cooperate on strategic, societally-relevant research in the fields of AI and Data Science. Collaboration thereby takes place with regard to knowledge development and to design as well as the development, testing and studying of tools and solutions.
