Beatrice Guardini is a PhD candidate in the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning, supervised by Prof. Niki Frantzeskaki and Dr. Katharina Hölscher. Her research explores how people form attachments to places, how nature influences these connections, and what these bonds signify for envisioning and governing urban spaces sustainably.
She’s currently a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow in the SUNSET project (HORIZON-MSCA-DN), where she focuses on researching the interlinkages between collaborative learning, urban place transformation, and nature restoration practices in the context of Urban Living Labs (ULLs). Before joining Utrecht University, she worked for a foundation in Northeast Italy, supporting community-led projects through capacity-building and co-design work. She also spent a short time as a research fellow at the University of Padova, collaborating with the Department of Land, Environment, Agriculture and Forestry on emerging Green Care initiatives.
Beatrice earned a Master’s in Sustainability Science (2023), an MSc in Environmental Psychology (2022), and a BSc in Landscape and Environmental Design and Planning (2019).
