Bram Droppers is a ICT developer and researcher at the Department of Physical Geography of Utrecht University. His interested is mainly in the worldwide effects of socio-economic and climatic changes on water resources and how we can adapt to achieve sustainable water management in tandem with the other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as sufficient agricultural production and protection of freshwater ecosystems. Bram aims to achieve these goals through the development and use of large-scale hydrological models, such as the Variable Infiltration Capacity (VIC) model or the PCRaster GLOBal Water Balance (PCR-GLOBWB) model. These developments include, among other, the coupling of hydrological models with agricultural models to estimate the effects of water scarcity on agricultural production and the use of deep-learning techniques to improve the speed and accuracy of hydrological models.
