Annemarie works as a Veterinarian, European Specialist in Reproduction (ECAR) at the Department of Clinical Sciences together with her colleague in Reproduction Jeffrey de Gier. Her activities include patient care (outpatient clinic) and education, both for bachelor and master students as well as for veterinarians and breeders.
Her interest is in both the professional and educational background of medical and veterinary education. As a veterinary clinician and teacher her interest is in the internal medicine, especially in small animal reproduction. As a teacher I try to smoothen students' transition towards becoming a responsible veterinarian. We therefore introduced two courses on first line veterinary medicine in which students have 5 and 10 week courses in extramural practices. As a researcher, her passion is 'small group learning', 'teacher development', ‘student-staff partnerships’ and 'curriculum development and evaluation'. By combining her work as a clinician, teacher and researcher she tries to build a bridge between the medical and veterinary educational literature, external veterinary practices, and the practical implementation of education in the workplace.

The ‘European Board of Veterinary Specialisation’ (EBVS®) is responsible for the training, examination, and accreditation of veterinary specialists in Europe. An EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist has completed a three-year postgraduate program followed by an examination after studying Veterinary Medicine. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine employs EBVS specialists from various fields. Additionally, the faculty is a recognized training institute for various specializations. This is how we contribute to high-quality patient care.
