At the core I am interested in the relation between brains and behaviors. I'm always looking for opportunities to learn new skills and explore ideas I can apply to the research questions at hand — and I firmly believe the best way to learn is by teaching
Currently, as a postdoc, I lead the citizen-science project LerenKijken.nl (and develop a namesake website) with the goal of teaching and learning from the public about visual perception.
During my PhD I have explored how humans employ their cognitive abilities in naturalistic interactions with their environment. I employed various methods including (online) behavioral tasks, pupil/eye-tracking, (Bayesian) statistical modeling.
As a strong proponent of open science ideals, I share relevant materials alongside my publications and publish open access. I also make an active effort to accessibly communicate science, and where possible involve the public too.
