Anne-Sophie Halbertsma started her PhD in Entrepreneurship at the Utrecht University School of Economics (USE) in 2022. Her research draws from the fields of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial finance and organization and strategy. She is especially interested in employee ownership and its long-term effects.
Halbertsma's background is in economic geography and urban policy, particularly considering local economic development issues through the lens of entrepreneurship. She has a double master's degree in Urban Policy from the London School of Economics (LSE) and Sciences Po, Paris. She obtained her bachelor degree from University College Utrecht (UCU). Before starting her PhD, Halbertsma worked for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy on startup and scaleup policy.
