I am an ecologist with main interests in disturbance ecology, human–wildlife interactions, nature restoration, and biodiversity.
As a PhD candidate in the Wildlife Ecology and Nature Restoration Group, I focus on the effects, challenges, and opportunities associated with military training areas in relation to nature and biodiversity. I also study the disturbance effects of military training and preparation activities on biodiversity.
This research reflects a combination of personal interest and societal relevance, and is closely connected to my professional role within the Royal Netherlands Air Force. As a wildlife ecologist in the Air Force, my primary responsibility is wildlife hazard management during operations. This work has a strong link to nature conservation and biodiversity, with the overarching goal of integrating air operations and natural ecosystems in a sustainable way.
