Profile

As of January 2024, Albert Klein Tank is Professor of Sustainable Transitions for River Deltas in a Changing Climate at Utrecht University (NL). His research aligns with his work as Science Director of the Delta Climate Center (DCC), a new centre jointly established by Utrecht University, Wageningen University, HZ/University of Applied Sciences, Scalda, University College Roosevelt and NIOZ. The chair aims at advancing our understanding of societal challenges in river deltas transitioning to a sustainable, climate-resilient and prosperous future. This research will help realize the DCC aim of innovative solutions for a future-proof delta.

As Science Director of DCC, Albert oversees the scientific quality of DCC projects on water, food and energy that generate social and economic impact at regional scale. He has scientific responsibility for the content of the research, education and business development on these topics. The approach is transdisciplinary - from an alpha, STEM and gamma perspective working challenge-based in knowledge groups with the entire province of Zeeland as a living lab.
