Lecturer
Anne teaches clinical child, family and education studies. She specialises in research on autism and inclusive education. Anne teaches research (master's thesis) and the clinical courses in bachelor and (pre)master program, including developmental psychopathology, diagnostic classification, treatment, and testing and observation skills.
With her research project IGUANAS [Inclusion and Gender of (Undiagnosed) Autistic and NonAutistic Students], Anne hopes to gain insight into the study careers and perceptions of inclusion of students with and without autism in higher education. This involves students at secondary school, college, and university. For this, she collaborates with Dr Marieke de Vries, among others. Students wishing to participate in the study can contact Anne or Marieke.
Background
Anne studied pedagogical sciences at Utrecht University and completed the research master's in Development and Socialisation in Childhood and Adolescence in 2018. Immediately afterwards, she joined Accare's Child Study Center as a PhD student. She conducted research on teaching students with autism, focusing mainly on teachers. She investigated whether an online course could help teachers and educators. After all, education professionals are the key figures in appropriate education. Anne also worked within the Kenniswerkplaats Jeugd Zuid-Limburg Trendbreuk on the subproject Out-of-homep placements: How can it be done differently? Together with several involved municipalities and Bureau Jeugdzorg, she investigated why Zuid-Limburg uses so much residential youth care and out-of-home placements compared to the rest of the Netherlands.
