Dr. Arista Fourie-Fouche
Researcher
My research interest is in unravelling the interactions between pathogens, symbionts and their host organisms, with a specific focus on the genetic and molecular foundation of these interactions. My personal goal is to use this knowledge to contribute to the improvement of plant health and global food security. My current project forms part of the research project 'Unearthing rhizosphere competence' where I investigate various traits of microbes that allow them to excel in the rhizosphere environment and outcompete other bacteria. I have a passion for mentoring and investing in younger researchers. My hobbies are bird watching, hiking and other outdoor activities.
