Broadly speaking, my research takes a comparative approach to understanding crime and attitudes towards justice. I am also a Research Fellow at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR), where I am involved in the Evidence-Based Policing Programme and the Extremism/Terrorism Research Group. Further, I am a collaboration partner within the z-proso (Zurich Project on Social Development from Childhood to Adulthood) International Research Network, and an associate member of the Violence Research Centre at the University of Cambridge.
Currently, I am working on a research project funded by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) that examines the social, individual, and situational processes that influence perceptions of police legitimacy, and how they may (or may not) lead to criminal and violent behaviours.
