Ali Abdillah is a PhD Candidate in International and European Law at Utrecht University since 2022. His research focuses on the comparative study of EU Law and ASEAN Law. In particular, He investigates whether the development of ASEAN Law has the same path as the development of EU Law in its early days from multiple aspects, such as constitutional law, internal market law, and dispute settlement mechanism. His research is supervised by Prof. mr. dr. Sybe de Vries and Prof. dr. mr. Armin Cuyvers (Universiteit Leiden). 

He holds his bachelor of law degree (LL.B) from the Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia in 2014. In 2016, He finished his master of laws degree (LL.M) in European Law from Universiteit Leiden. He is also a lecturer in the Constitutional Law Department at the Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia.
