The Faculty Club van ... Raja Lala
In deze rubriek vertellen onze leden iets over zichzelf en waarom ze lid zijn van de Faculty Club. Dr. Raja Lala is docent bij de afdeling Informatica van de Universiteit Utrecht.
The Faculty club in the Academy building is a historic and fascinating place in the middle of the Utrecht city centre. I particularly like the bustling atmosphere in the club, especially during one of the musical evening events, which I have often attended. In regular times, it is an oasis of peace and calm when the terrasses in the centre are brimming with people. Especially sitting in the garden on a warm summer or spring day is lovely.
I joined the Faculty Club shortly after I joined Utrecht University (end of 2015). I live a stone’s throw away from the club, and regularly attended the musical evening events in my first year at the University.

What do you do in your daily life?
I am a part-time lecturer at the Computer science department at Utrecht University. I used to play competition tennis and other sports for recreation. Travelling, cooking, singing, playing guitar and piano, learning languages, acting, photography, painting and dancing are my other pastimes.
What is your most fun memory of the Faculty Club?
I would go for two. In 2018, the International neighbour group organized a wine tasting event and it was a great evening. The second is more recent, I was part of the winning team of the online Escape room organised by the Faculty club in April this year and we received a ‘Spooky borrel’ prize in September. It was lovely to be physically on premises again and the borrel was lovely.
What are you looking forward to the most?
