Did you know that 44% of our habitable land is used for intensive agriculture and animal husbandry? These methods are not only damaging our air, water, and soil, but also impacting the livelihoods of vulnerable communities who face the brunt of the climate crisis. It's time to rethink how we feed ourselves and the world!
Speakers:
- Special Guest Speaker: Kadir Van Lohuizen. A renowned documentary photographer, Kadir has travelled across the globe capturing stories that reveal the deep connections between migration, climate change, and food production. His work is crucial in bringing these issues to the forefront, making him an essential voice in our dialogue.
- Selma Blanken: A migration researcher and activist who has deeply investigated the intersection of food production and labor migration in "De Plastic Zee," the largest greenhouse area in Europe. Her work traces the journey of a single tomato, exposing the exploitation of land and labor.
- Ernest Gibba: A permaculture farmer and facilitator in Southern Spain, who has worked to create fair employment for undocumented migrants through ecological farming, and has been part of initiatives that raise awareness about exploitation in industrial agriculture.
Following the lectures, attendees will have the chance to engage in interactive discussions by painting on canvas. Experts from various fields will lead group conversations, envisioning healthier, more sustainable food systems for the future.
