Utrecht Young Academy (UYA) is looking for a student assistant to help with a project on the criteria and procedures used for awards in academia. The student assistant will review current innovations in nomination, selection and administrative procedures for Dutch academic awards (NWO, KNAW, KHMW, other young academies e.g. AYA or RYA). This will result in an overview of common practice and ideas for non-traditional setups. The student assistant will also evaluate experiences of (non-)awardees, nominees and committee members through interviews. This should take one day a week, for 2 months. Given the limited time, the focus is not so much on making a comprehensive overview, but rather on getting an idea of common practices as well as interesting innovations. The expected deliverable is a document of around 25 pages giving both an overview of award practices in the Dutch academic landscape, as well as more detailed insight into creative ideas that UU or UYA could adopt.
