Algemene projectbeschrijving 

Om leerlingen voor te bereiden op de 21ste eeuw is het belangrijk ze hogere-orde-vaardigheden (HOV) te leren. Voor de realisatie hiervan is een goed theoretisch en praktisch inzicht nodig in hoe HOV zich ontwikkelen en gestimuleerd kunnen worden. Het onderzoeksproject draagt hieraan bij vanuit een domein-specifieke benadering van HOV en richt zich op wiskundige HOV bij elementaire vormen van verwerking van dynamische gegevens, kansrekening en algebra. Terwijl internationaal steeds meer wordt benadrukt om de fundamenten voor HOV op jonge leeftijd te leggen, wordt in het Nederlandse basisonderwijs aan HOV vrijwel geen aandacht besteed. Doel van dit onderzoek is om – uitgaande van de embodiment, representational redescription en variatietheorie, en gebruikmakende van interventies in ict-omgevingen – te komen tot verrijking van het reken-wiskundecurriculum. Het onderzoek heeft een experimentele opzet waarbij macro-genetische longitudinale studies (ontwikkeling binnen een schooljaar) worden gecombineerd met micro-genetische studies (ontwikkeling binnen lessenserie) die genest zijn in de macrogenetische studies.

Algemene projectbeschrijving

Improving Progress for Lower Achievers through Formative Assessment in Science and Mathematics Education (FaSMEd) is a EU-funded project designed to investigate the use of technology in formative assessment classroom practices in ways that allow teachers to respond to the emerging needs of learners in mathematics and science. The project is aimed at working with teachers and learners in science and mathematics education across eight countries. The UU project revolves around the Digital Assessment Environment (DAE): an environment containing tests specifically designed to enable teachers to use student work in mathematics in a formative way. The DAE provides teachers with rich data on their students' understanding through auxiliary tools: digital tools which the students can employ to help them solve a problem, and may help the teacher find out which steps they took in obtaining their answers.
