I teach modern literature in the BA Literary Studies programme and at UCU. In 2020, I completed my PhD dissertation on the cultural memory of slavery and abolition in the nineteenth-century transnational movement for women's rights, which was expressed across a wide spectrum of textual media and genres. From 2021-2023, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the ERC project Remembering Activism: The Cultural Memory of Protest in Europe. My research project developed the idea of a “protest lexicon” or “discursive repertoire” of social movements, and explored how activist memory is shaped and transmitted through language.
