Profiel

Rosemarie Buikema is professor of Art, Culture and Diversity at Utrecht University. She chairs the UU Graduate Gender Programme (GGeP) and is the scientific director of the Netherlands Research School of Gender Studies (NOG). In that capacity, she also co-ordinates the UU share in the Erasmus Mundus Master in Gender Studies (GEMMA) and directs the annual international Summer School in Gender Studies: NOISE.
Next to this she co-chairs the UU IOS Hub Gender and Diversity: Building an Inclusive Society.

She is author of 4 monographs and (co)editor of 10 edited volumes. She has widely published in the field of feminist and postcolonial theory in international journals like European Journal of Women’s Studies; Women’s Studies International Forum; Journal of Genderstudies; European Journal of English Studies; Journal of European Studies; Interventions International Journal of Postcolonial Studies; Memory Studies; Men and Masculinities; Culture, Health and Sexuality amongst others. Among her latest co-edited book publications are Doing Gender in Media Art and Culture (Routledge 2017 and Routledge 2009), Theories and Methodologies in Feminist Research (Routledge 2011) and From Boys to Men (University of Cape Town Press 2007. She also co-edited two volumes on Arts in Motion in the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds funded series Cultuur en Migratie in Nederland (SDU 2003 and 2004).

She is currently the principal investigator for the Horizon2020 Cultures of Equality Innovative Training Network (https://ec.europa.eu/research/mariecurieactions/about/innovative-training-networks_en ) project where she is responsible for the work package: Textual and Artistic Cultures of Gender Equality (http://graceproject.eu/). She has extensive experience in supervising and directing large cultural and academic events and projects among others an EU FP6 Early Stage Research training programme which delivered 39 PHD’s EU-wide (http://cordis.europa.eu/project/rcn/82214_en.html).

In her recent monograph Revoltes in de Cultuurkritiek (Amsterdam University Press, 2017) she combines theories of transitional justice, the politics of aesthetics and theories of sexual difference in order to develop new and multilayered scenario’s for change and transnational justice.

The Marie Curie Fellowships for Early Stage Training in the field of Gender and Women's Studies allows early stage researchers access to a training programme offered by a network of seven universities in different European countries. The partner institutions, with proven record of high expertise in gender research and education, will jointly train and exchange junior PhD students. The Marie Curie Early Stage Training Scheme is designed to encourage international mobility and therefore carries an enhanced salary/stipend
