Natalia I. Petrovskaia is universitair docent Keltisch, verbonden aan het Departement Talen, Literatuur en Communicatie. Ze is afdelingshoofd van de Afdeling Keltisch en Klassieken bij het departement Talen, Literatuur en Communicatie, programmacoördinator van de BA programma Keltische Talen en Cultuur en de Humanities Honours Programme domeincoördinator voor het departement Talen Literatuur en Communicatie. Zij is ook bestuurslid van het Utrecht University Centre for Medieval Studies. In het voorjaar 2026 is ze Visiting Fellow aan Peterhouse, University of Cambridge en Visiting Senior Research Associate aan de Cambridge Endangered Languages and Cultures Group, University of Cambridge.
Petrovskaia is afgestudeerd en gepromoveerd aan de University of Cambridge en was daarna Research Fellow in Clare Hall, University of Cambridge (2012-14). Haar onderzoek betreft middeleeuwse vertalingen, Arthuriaanse literatuur en middeleeuwse geografische tradities. Haar meest recente boeken zijn This is Not a Grail Romance. Transforming Europe, gaat over middeleeuwse geografische tradities en de vertalingen in de volkstaal van de Latijnse encyclopedie Imago mundi. Dit onderzoek was gefinanceerd door een NWO Talentprogramma VENI-beurs (https://www.nwo.nl/projecten/275-50-015-0).
Petrovskaia is co-promotor in het promotieproject ‘Empowering Individuals, Opening Cities: Multilingual Books as Cultural Brokers in the Sixteenth Century’, met Rozanne Verdendaal (PL en co-promotor), en Arnoud Visser (promotor), met Pauline Bobichon (PhD candidate).
