We combine mass-spectrometry proteomics and chemical biology to study posttranslational modifications. We are especially interested in protein long-chain S-acylation (S-palmitoylation), a reversible lipid posttranslational modification that is thought to target about 15% of the human proteome. We are developing methods to study the scope and enzymatic regulation of this PTM with a main focus on the role of this PTM in neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
Our lab is part of the Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics group embedded in the Bijvoet Centre for Biomolecular Research at Utrecht University
