Kirthi Jayakumar is an AI policy researcher at the Inclusive AI Lab and a PhD candidate at Utrecht University. She specializes in AI and law, tech geopolitics, women, peace and security, and conflict transformation. Kirthi runs Civitatem Resolutions, focusing on human-centric governance of emerging technologies through feminist approaches. She has served on the Steering Committee for the UN Women AI School and on Women 7, the advisory group to the G7 on emerging technologies. She holds an MA in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the UN-mandated University for Peace, Costa Rica, and an MA in Peace and Conflict Studies from Coventry University, supported by a Commonwealth Scholarship. Kirthi previously founded The Red Elephant Foundation and created Saahas, a mobile app supporting survivors of gender-based violence, recognized internationally for its innovation. An artist, Kirthi created Femcyclopaedia, an art project that recorded chronicles of women in history, and now creates astronomical art that has been featured by NASA, and authored Game Changers, a book on powerful women changemakers in India. A TEDx speaker and global youth ambassador, Kirthi’s work bridges technology, social justice, and inclusive innovation to create impact at scale.
