Kristoffer Friis Bøegh (b. 1989) works at the Institute for Language Sciences, Utrecht University, and is also affiliated with the Meertens Institute, Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, in Amsterdam. He received his PhD from Aarhus University, Denmark, in 2021 with a dissertation on Virgin Islands English Creole. His current research project, funded by the Carlsberg Foundation, focuses on the history of Carriols, an extinct Dutch-based creole language that was spoken in the Danish West Indies (today’s US Virgin Islands). Prior to moving to the Netherlands, he worked at the Peter Skautrup Center for Jutlandic Dialect Research in the Department of Scandinavian Studies and Experience Economy at Aarhus University. He is a member of the editorial board of Studies in Modern Danish (Nydanske Sprogstudier) and a subject-matter expert for the Danish National Encyclopedia (Lex.dk). He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Society for Pidgin and Creole Linguistics.
